See you after the 10th. Jane
Such a cute picture. I have been ill all week and trying to get healthy before the big trip next week. We've got a destination wedding. These two cuties will be getting hitched soon and then we will post some pictures. We will see if we will have time during the trip, but lets not count on it. I would like to think that friends and family would be enough to fulfill me. HA.
See you after the 10th. Jane
This is what all the work is all about. Forgot to get pictures of the spaghetti squash, zucchini, acorn squash and Loofa. Yes I said Loofa. Only have harvested 3 but that will give us something to experiment with. The rain has been really hard on our crops. Isn't it usually us praying for rain? I don't want to pray for it to go away, Gotta take what we get and figure it out. Its one of Gods tests.
So I went into the Blackberry bush garden, hoping they would finally be turning black, and they are but their are those Japanese beetles everywhere. So guess what I did?? I ate as many as I could, got black juice all over me and knocked off as many beetles as I could. I was ferocious, isn't that a good word. Just fighting for my garden and saying FEROCIOUS made me smile. Hope it made you smile too. Remember Grow Green, Eat Natural, Buy Local. Jane ( PS you know that is just my blog name don't you??).
All I gotta say is, its 3:50 on Sunday, where did my weekend go. That's it, all I got, I gotta run its almost over
Just hanging out at Brew and Plow Farm, watching stuff Grow, Watching bugs invade, Watching it Rain, and Rain, and Rain. Hoping tonight when we go to the Asto's game it doesn't rain and we get to see the fireworks. Hoping tomorrows Farmers Market is work the trip.
Everyone have a great and productive weekend.
Weeds and June Bugs or are they Japanese Beetles. Tennessee sure has its share of Bugs, Weeds, and humidity. I can handle the sunshine, oh yeah.... I can even handle the Humidity, that is what air conditioning is for. I may try to be natural, but I don't think I can give up my air conditioning. But what I really don't like to handle are Weeds. We have had so much Sun, then rain, then sun, then rain, that we can't even keep up with the mowing. I feel like a bad homeowner. One of those homeowners who don't take care of their land. I at the moment am just trying to keep up. Since we moved the chickens, guess what, we have massive amount of weeds. I guess our little girls ate them all up and while they are busy eating in their new area, around the house is just exploding with weeds. Got to get at it this weekend..
And, And, And,
Had a nice weekend. Farmers Market went well and we even got in a Motorcycle ride on Sunday, thus no weed pulling this weekend. LOL I will try to g
Yes those are green and purple cherry tomatoes. We have some Golden Egg Squash, pickler cucumbers and zucchini. This was my bounty that I just picked. We had a nice online farmers market this last week and we did well. I basically sold out of most everything I had and Now I am going through a little growers remorse. I gave my stuff away. Well it feels like that. There was no way we were going to get it processed or eaten so it was the smart thing to do, sell it. And it was nice to see that there were people out there that wanted my herbs and vegetables.
So due to this remorse I was feeling I went out and tied up all my tomatoes checked out all my squashes. Could find the acorn ones, I'll look again tomorrow and got myself good and dirty.
So I think one of my new outlooks is if all things fail just go out and get dirty. The shower is worth it.
I hope the rain is just enough for all of you and that all of your gardens are growing and producing the bounty of summer.
Remember Grow Green, Eat Natural and Buy Local..... and have an oreo cookie once in a while. Its na
I'm tired and I need to go out and tie up the tomatoes. They are drooping. Now on the bright side. One, I have the ties all cut up and ready to go. and Two, we had a successful Online Farmers Market. That gets delivered this afternoon. It made me happy just like these flowers do to know someone wants our stuff. It is a learning curve learning to pick things on time, keep them safe and get them delivered still fresh. Oh and not forget to take anything that is in the refrigerator. I'd hate to get there with something other than fresh vegetables.
Rain is liquid water in the form of droplets that have condensed from
atmospheric water vapor and then precipitated—that is, become heavy enough to
fall under gravity
Rain makes everything better.

It is July 3rd heading into the 4th of July. Around here that means a Motorcycle ride, Asto's baseball and fireworks. I really look forward to seeing all the games they have the kids play while we wait for the fire works. I especially like the running of the bases. You have Moms, Dads , and Grandparents with kids from 2 and up running the bases. It is hilarious and wonderful all at the same time.
So my worry would normally be the sun and heat, but today it is the rain.
Will our holiday be a Wash?
Rain brings us our gardens and our food, but with everything there is good and a bad side. Last year when the rain didn't subside it ruined our sunflowers, potatoes, garlic and onions and my butternut squash. I am hoping this year they will be tough enough to soak it up and survive.
If you look through some of the past farm reports you will see a picture of our sweet corn being knocked down from a storm. Well I am happy to report that it all stood back up. So fingers crossed that we will have corn this year.
Anyway,,, I am rambling, I just wanted to part with some words before the holiday, because I probably won't be back until Sunday.
Rain is a good thing. We need Water to survive so be careful what you pray for. How about we be thankful and ask God to just give us tomorrow off and bless us with some sunshine. I am really looking forward to all those smiling kiddos.
God Bless America, It is my land and it is your land, we are the land of the Free and I am Thankful for it.
This is Jewel and she has been weighing heavily on my mind. She has been our Girl for 15 years and even though we know she is old, up until today we could still take her out for walks and have her be our companion here and there. Running around us or with Lily (our Schnoodle) and behaving like she was a puppy. Jewel has always had that Puppiness quality and someday soon it will be greatly missed. Today was the first day we saw her really failing. So This is what is weighing on my mind. I don't want her to suffer, but I also don't want her to go...................
